March Heartfelt Creations Alumni Design Team Blog Hop...

Good morning everyone and welcome to the March blog hop for the Heartfelt Creations Alumni team!  I am always so happy to get to play along and spend some time with this great team! So let's get started.

If you arrived here from Giovanna's blog you are right on track and remember to leave a comment on as many of our blogs  as you can because you never know which blog will have the winning comment. You could be the winner of a $25 gift certificate for product from Heartfelt Creations.  You have until midnight on Saturday, April 3rd. to comment and the winner will be announced on Saturday April 4th.

Just another little box...I have been making them right and left and I allowed Heartfelt Creations to take control of this one for sure.  I covered the box in paper from the Birds and Blooms collection and fussy cut out those sweet little birds and popped them onto the front of the box.  I made flowers using the Botanical Rose stamps and cut them out with the Botanical Wings die.  So quick and easy and I embossed the flower petals and the leaves with white embossing powder.  This little box just screams Spring to me!

Your next stop along the way will be Vicki Dutcher and don't forget to leave a comment on as many blogs as you can so you have a better chance of winning. Good luck to everyone!

Come Fly With Me.... Challenge at the Sisterhood of Crafters.....

Good morning everyone and welcome to my blog this morning.  I'm here this morning to share a card I made to enter the challenge at the Sisterhood of Crafters.  They have a design team call going on there and today is the last day to add your name to their list.  I decided I would try out for this team as I am looking for a team where I only have to make two projects a month.  Summer is coming and it gets a little crazy at my house with all the  yard and garden work this time of year.   So, if I should make the team, it would be a perfect fit for me.
Keep your fingers crossed for me!

First off I apologize for the photo...it seems to be a little off balance, but then again I'm sort of off balance this morning.  We sort of go together.  I am continuing to try and use up some of my hoard and when I pulled out this paper it said 2011.  How's that for getting a little age on it?  I decided it was time to cut into it and so here it is doing the heavy lifting on my card.  It is a Bo-Bunny paper called Gabrielle from 2011.  I just love the pretty shades of green and peach and muted browns.  I fussy cut a little butterfly to put over the one printed on the paper and used a bit of glitter on the flowers and leaves, as well as the body of the little butterfly.  This is a quick and easy card with no razzle dazzle but I think it is quite elegant.

OK, that does it for me this morning.  I have some blogs to visit this morning so I'm off to do that.  It's raining here and the temperature is dropping...winter is trying to rear it's ugly head again.  There are pear trees in bloom and I'm hoping it doesn't get below freezing.  I noticed yesterday my red bud trees are blooming and the maple trees are leafing out.  Also my dogwood trees are showing little green flowers.  They should be in full bloom by Easter in all their glory!  I just love Spring!

Also working on Easter cards...this is sitting on it's side a bit...sorry!  I used Graphic 45 Sweet Sentiments papers to decorate and then a pretty yellow bow to finish it off!

Well this does it for me this morning.  I'm off to visit as many of the desks as I can!  Have a good day!

WOYWW #302

Good morning everyone!  Come on in and let's have a good visit this morning. We are smack dab in the middle of the week and we deserve a breather!  We have been experiencing glorious weather here in the south the last couple of days and I have been outside playing in the dirt!

This morning I'm showing you my desk top and my little mess of creativity.  If you are wondering about this, head over to Julia's Blog and have a look around. She has all the rules and regulations listed there.  Then come join us, we would love to look over your shoulder and see what you have going on!

Yes, I'm making flowers once again.  I left them lying about unfinished because the sun was out and weeds were growing already.  I spent two days outside trimming roses and cleaning out a flower bed.  Now back to finish these flowers. I have a place all picked out for them so I must finish.  The next photo is just a closer view of them.  I used Tim Holtz Tattered Florals Die to cut out the petals.

Well that is all for me this morning...I must go see how many blogs I can visit this morning.  Have a wonderful rest of the week!

Everything's Coming Up Daisies!

Good Monday morning everyone!  Here I am again with my cup of coffee, staring at the computer screen (my window onto the world) and I'm thinking to myself maybe I should go climb back in bed.  That's the beauty of being retired; I can do what I want...Right?  Wrong! Today I need to be outside in the sunshine trimming roses and pulling weeds that are taking over my landscaping!

I just have to share another box with you guys!  This is number 13!  Bad luck?  I don't think so! I personally love everything about this one!  I started with the basic 3" X 3" cube box and then cut squares of cardstock to emboss onto the base box.  I wanted to use Scattered Straw Distress Ink to color the box and knew that to use this ink in the usual way of swiping the ink onto the embossing folder then embossing would result in a smeared looking piece of cardstock.  So I lightly spritzed the cardstock with my water bottle before I started and this was the end result.

My daisies are made using an old hoarded Heartfelt Creations die from long ago
(HCD 703 Daisy Patch Die and yellow Flower Soft for the centers.  I think they are a perfect addition to the box and then I found this lovely gingham ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon and it was just the finishing touch my box needed.

I hope you are not tired of my boxes as I have several more to go.  I love doing these and have found they make my heart sing!

OK, that does it for me this morning.  No matter what you wind up doing today and no matter where you find yourself, take a moment and "Breathe"!

A Quick And Simple Card...Packs a Punch!

Good morning everyone and welcome...come on in and have a cup of coffee or tea and lets visit a spell.  It has been a super busy week for me as my little Maggie wasn't feeling well and those of you who know me know that she is the namesake of my blog.  She started with me way back when I started my blog and we were crafting in my laundry room.  She had a bed in the corner of the room, thus the name Magpie's Corner.  Just a little tidbit from long ago.  We have come a long way since then and have tried to grow old gracefully together.

This morning I'm here to share a quick and simple card I just literally threw together yesterday afternoon!  I  used Heartfelt Creations Birds and Blooms Paper Collection and just added a bow and a tiny bit of glitter and "Boom" it's finished!  I started by making the 4.25" X 5.5" card base with white card stock and then cut a piece of the pretty paper to layer over the base.  Next I cut out one of the card fronts featured in the paper stack and stamped the sentiment.  Then I layered it over the other paper after I had tied a pretty bow.  Next came a bit of glitter on the butterflies and the centers of the little flowers and that's finished!  I have to say, I love the colors and I also love the fact I had ribbon in my drawer that matched perfectly.  How's that for no fuss?  I tied that pretty little double bow with my new Bow It All V2.  Love it!

Now I'm off to spend some time with my blog buddies and say hello on this Friday morning.  Hope you have a great weekend planned!

WOYWW #301....

Good morning everyone and welcome.  It's once again Wednesday and time for me to share what is on my desk top this morning.  If you are curious about this little world wide blog hop then go over to Julia's; she has all the instructions and rules listed on her blog and we would love to have you join us!

I'm working on these little 3 X 3 boxes to go to the nursing home to hold little goodies for the patients.  I have 10 finished so far and these are just a sampling of them.  I'm having quite a bit of fun decorating them and making flowers to fit the tops.  My goal is to make 20 - 25 and I'm hoping to make each one totally different from the others.  So far so good.  The possibilities are endless!

Well that's all for me this morning.  I'm off to visit some of the other participating bloggers and see what is going on in everyone's life!

Craft Hoarders Anonymous March Challenge - Go Green

It is with a heavy heart that I tell you this morning, this will be the LAST Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge.  After the March challenge ends, we will not be posting any more challenges.  Gloria started this challenge blog as a way to keep busy while she recovered from an injury.  She began to feel better and began to take on more design work and now is faced with having to downsize again or face more injury.

It has been an amazing 14 months and I have enjoyed seeing all the wonderful projects you all have submitted during this time!  The design team has been such a joy to work/play with and I will truly miss everyone but  will continue to follow their journey as we all go forward.  I am having such a hard time saying goodbye to this team and all of you; this design team was just what I needed when I needed it.

This month the challenge is to Go Green.  Go into  your hoard and pull out all the green papers, ribbons, buttons, etc. and create a project to show your love of all things green!  Think Spring flowers and leaves and let your imagination run wild!  The challenge is open until April 12th. at midnight Pacific Time.  Our favorites will be featured on April 20th.  Please play along and visit with us one last time.

Now here is my card:

Now I've shown you mine, get busy and make something wonderful and show us yours!  I look forward to seeing what you create and I just know you are going to WOW us!

Now in closing, I would like to wish Gloria the best of luck in all she does!  She is such a talented lady I just know she is going to be successful!  I will be watching!

Sunflowers Everywhere..........

Good morning everyone!  Friday has rolled around once again and I'm here to share another project with you before we jump into the weekend.  I'm making boxes for the nursing home and I am having so much fun just letting my creative side run wild!  In the coming days I will share some of them with you just for fun.  After all, this journey of mine has become about doing what I want when I want.  When I said I would make these boxes, I didn't realize I was going to have so much fun!

I just love these pretty sunflowers from Heartfelt Creations.  They are so much fun to color and shape and did you notice these cute little lady bugs?

Here is a close up of the top of the box and another cute little ladybug!  The center of the flowers is a combination of seed beads and glitter and Gala Glitz colored with Ink to make a wonderful medium for flower centers.

A good close up of the front of the box.  The pretty bows are seam binding colored with Orange Marmalade Distress Ink so they match the flowers.

I have to admit, I went a bit overboard with this one and almost didn't stop decorating it.  There comes a point when it's just over kill.  Hope I didn't get to that point with this one.

Well that's all for me this morning.  Hope you have a great day and that you enjoy your weekend!

WOYWW #300

Good morning everyone and welcome to What's on Your Workdesk? Wednesday #300.  Now that has to be some kind of milestone, to have started a little blog hop that has blossomed into this little bit of wonderful for Wednesday mornings! I am so totally addicted that if I miss a Wednesday I feel like my whole week is messed up!  If you need a little more information about this world wide blog hop and if you need all the rules and regulations about it, just hop over to Julia's blog and she has everything listed there. And a big congratulations to Julia for creating this blog hop for all of us!

I took this photo late yesterday afternoon and it still looks the same this morning. I am making flowers again, something that I love doing.  The black kit holds some of my flower shaping tools and I'm afraid it is covering my cut out flower petals.  I need flowers to decorate these pretty boxes I'm making for my sister.  The nursing home needs boxes to hold goodies and I'm loving every minute of this. I just love a pretty box.  See the re-inkers sitting there?  The two new Ranger Distress colors are showing.  The Cracked Pistachio and the Abandoned Coral are my latest additions to my hoard.  I use distress inks to color a lot of the flowers I make so new colors just take my away with possibilities!

Well that does it for me this morning.  I'm off to Julia's blog and then on to visit as many of you as I can!

Another Birthday Card.......

Good morning everyone.  Hope you are ready to begin another week.  It is raining here; how is it the song goes.....Rainy days and Monday's always get me down?  I have been trying to make birthday cards ahead and I had to send 4 cards during the month of February so I'm still behind I'm afraid.

Here is my latest card.  It's a quick and easy card without a lot of bells and whistles.  It will be easy to mail and can work for male or female alike.

The pretty paper is from a Prima paper stack then I added lots of die cuts over the top and to finish it all off a pretty yellow butterfly and it's all ready to be out the door.  I love how simple this card is and there is not a flower in sight.  I know, I know....it's hard to believe....I can hardly believe it myself!

Well that is it for me this morning.  Hope you have a good day and that wherever you find yourself and whatever you wind up doing that you take a moment and "Breathe".
