Christmas Joy....

Good afternoon everyone.....I've had a little time to play today and decided to enter this card in the Just Rite Inspiration Blog Friday Challenge #33.

I used the little penguin from the JustRite Christmas Joy set and stamped on white cardstock then I used Spellbinders dies to cut out the layers for each little penguin.  The strip on the side of the card was embossed with a Cuttlebug Folder and I made a little snowflake to embellish the top corner.  I used blues and whites to set up the card.  The little penguins were colored with Copic markers.

I hope you enjoy this; it will be going into my Christmas Box for use during the Holiday Season.

Autumn Apples......

Good morning everyone....it is Saturday and we have made it to the weekend!  The temps are cooling a little here and you can almost feel Autumn in the air!  Our overnight lows are dipping down into the  60's and most of us are so glad!   My card for today is for Joan's Gardens at: joanscreations.blogspot.com  It is Challenge #12 and it calls for: Striped paper, pearls or brads, piercing and a stamped Fall Image...JustRite if you have them.

My card doesn't show the piercing very well, but it is there...On the brown layer under the apples.  I'm sorry, sometimes my pictures leave a lot to be desired!  My image is from JustRite and I colored it with Ranger Distress inks.  I'm still learning this process, so please be kind.  the leaves were cut with Spellbinders dies and colored with Ranger Distress ink then I added some Metallic Rub On's.

This card is also being entered in a new challenge site I found:  Crafty Emma's   The Challenge is "Anything Goes".

I hope you enjoy this!  Have a wonderful weekend and remember to take time to Breathe!

Christmas Snowfall.......

Good Friday morning!  I hope your week was a good one and that you are looking forward to the weekend.  Now to the Weekly Color Challenge.....Welcome all and here are the colors for our challenge this week.

The JFF stamps I used are D-3418 Small Snowy Pine, and A-3445 On Dasher.  I stamped and embossed the images in silver embossing powder and added glitter to all the areas that needed snow, then I went back and added some Flower Soft to the trees so that it would show up better.    You might also like to visit the blogs of the other Design Team Members and see what they have going on.....just click on their names below and that will take you to them!  Leave them a comment.  We love to hear what you have to say!

Christmas Tag:

Here is the Christmas tag I did for the Challenge over at Joan's Gardens joanscreations.blogspot.com

Make a tag and use some grunge paper or metal on the tag.  I did not have grunge paper so I used some heavy cardstock for the stamped image.  I colored the image with Copic markers and used Ranger Distress Inks to color the background colors.  The key is a Spellbinders die and i cut it out of bronze metal.  The detail on this key didn't show up very well in my picture.  The corners of the image are just mounting corners for pictures in gold.

I hope you enjoy this.  It will be going into my Christmas stash!

Re-visiting Parchment Craft.......

I was going through a drawer Friday and found this little angel that I did way back when, so I decided to put her on a card and add her to my stash for Christmas...I also found some pieces that I had already traced off and so I'm working on those as we speak.  I find that you never forget the craft, but you do, however, get a little rusty....so I definitely need to practice.  I love the look of whitework and almost all my pieces are just that.  I think when you add a colored piece of cardstock behind the piece it just makes it pop, and it can look so elegant.  I never mastered the coloring techniques because I love this look so much...I hope you enjoy this little angel....

JFF Color challenge #25...

I have to tell you, I just love these fall colors we have been working with and this week's colors are some of my favorites.  Orange, Olive and Rust just scream cooler temps to me.  Why don't you come play along with us...all you have to do is create a card or project using these colors and any JFF stamps you have.  If you don't have any yet, you can still play.  Then go to the JFF Blog : jffstamps.typepad.com/jffstamps/  and at the bottom of the post there will be a link button to link back to your card or project.   We love seeing what you come up with each week!  It is wonderful when you share!  And you have a chance to win a $50 Shopping Spree if you win!

For my card, I used E-3440  Fall Corn Swag and the sentiment is from the new set of sentiments (UMS7019) I just love these sentiments as they fit perfectly on the tags from Spellbinders.  You can get these stamps at the JFF website here:  jffstamps.com.

I stamped my image on watercolor paper and colored with Distress Inks from Ranger.   I added a little glitter to the acorn caps, but I don't think it shows very well.   I cut out the image using a Spellbinders Die and then a mat in dark olive with the same Dies just a little larger.  I cut out one of the tags from Spellbinders and ran ribbon through it for my sentiment.  The card base was embossed with a Sizzix embossing folder.

Jack in the Pulpit.......

OK, yes this one was difficult for me.....I looked up these flowers on line and they are beautiful in real life, however, I couldn't achieve the look on my card...This is my fifth try and I have to tell you, there comes a time when you just have to turn your back and move on.  The stamp is from JFF Stamps (D3415-Artsy Pulpit Flower)  In real life the flower is sort of transluscent and I just couldn't re-create the look.  So I cussied up the card with some colorful paper, some Spellbinders Dies, some silk ribbon and a few pearls.  I hope you enjoy this one.

Supplies:
JFF Stamps (D3415-Artsy Pulpit Flower)
Copic Markers
Spellbinders Dies
Paper, Ribbon and Pearls from my stash

"Hope"

I'm running a little late this morning and so my posting is late also.  Today I did a card for Joan's Gardens Challenge #10.  It calls for purple, green and a little pattern paper and a butterfly.  This card was a joy to color and it just fell together.  I love it when that happens.  I hope you enjoy it!

My stamp is Violets from Hampton Art Stamps, stamped on cream colored card stock and colored with Copic Markers.  My Little Hope stamp is from JustRite Stampers and I just used one word off the stamp.  I used some green striped paper from my stash and a embossing folder to add texture.  The butterfly was stamped and colored with Copics also and edged in gold.  His antenna are gold also.

Supplies:
Stamps:  Hampton Art Stamps, JustRite Stampers
Copic Markers
Spellbinders Dies
Sizzix Embossing Folder
Scraps of paper from my stash.

Little Snowmen.....

Well I have survived the canning and cleaning up and I have had a moment to breathe!  I decided to do another Christmas card to add to my stash!

I have been some amazing coloring done with Ranger Distress Ink and I decided to try my hand at it!  This is my first try and I must say I have a long way to go, but I really love the look that can be achieved!  My little snowmen are from JustRite Stampers (forgive me...I cannot remember the name) from last year.  I used Spellbinders Circle Dies to cut out my image and added some sparkle to the edges.  I mounted it on some Christmas paper from  my stash and added some lace, also from my stash.  The fluff on the hats is Liquid Applique, which I love, but I'm still learning how to achieve the look I want.  This is the first time I have used and I didn't quite get it even.  But all in all, I think it turned out OK.  Hope you enjoy it!

My Monday is going to be jam packed....I have a million errands to run and need to shuttle dear hubby around a little this morning, so I am off for another cup of coffee and a shower!  Have a wonderful day and remember to take time to Breathe!

Can you believe it?  Another week has come and gone and it is still August!  This week's challenge colors are Olive, Cranberry and Yellow!  So sad.....I didn't get to play along!  All my creativity is sitting in jars on my kitchen counter!  Canned tomatoes, salsa, and green beans!    But you can play along and you may be the winner of the $50 shopping spree!  Just use these colors and any JFF stamps you have and make a card or project.  If you don't have any JFF stamps yet, it is ok, just use what you have!  Once you have a card or project then go to the JFF Blog jffstamps.typepad.com/jffstamps and at the bottom of the Challenge #24 entry, there is a link button; just use it to link back to your card or project!  We always love seeing what you create!

HOT, HOT, HOT!!!

I know it is August, but this is just terrible temps we are having!  Our feels like temps here yesterday were 100-102!  It's hard to find a cool place to crash in!  If this is global warming....I'm not too happy about it!

I went into the garden yesterday to pick a few more tomatoes and peppers, and low and behold there were more beans also!  So I just started picking and before you know it I had melted and run down into my shoes!  So today, I have tomatoes to can, Salsa to make and also green beans to can!  I'm so far behind on everything that I'm feeling a little overwhelmed just now!  The apples are beginning to ripen and the grapes are hanging on the vine just waiting for me to come pick them!  I'm really moving slow in my old age...there was a time I could have done all of this in one day, but these days, I just seem to be puttering right along!  Slow and Steady, but a little burst of energy would be most appreciated!  I want to dry some apples the old fashioned way.  They make wonderful fried apple pies, and I might even try my hand at a stack cake for Christmas.  My Mom and Grandmother used to make these, but I have never tried my hand at them.

Well ladies, I will be missing in action for a few days as I try to wade through this sea of veggies.  I'm not really complaining....just whining a little!  They will sure be tasty this winter!  I love to can and see the produce in the jars all lined up and waiting.  It gives me a sense of achievement!  Have a great day and a wonderful rest of the week.  If you are struggling with heat, I wish you a cool breeze now and then!

Happy Monday Everyone!

I just want to wish everyone a wonderful Monday and a great work week!  I have a new card for you today and I'm going to enter in Joan's Gardens Challenge #9  joanscreations.blogspot.com.  She challenged everyone to make a pink and white card and punch 4 corners with a Martha Stewart punch.  Here is my card......

I used watercolor paper from my stash and punched 4 corners with a Martha Stewart punch, then I used a Spellbinders Die and embossed the center of the card.  Next I used Ranger Distress Ink in Victorian Velvet, and used a water brush to add some pink color to the card.  I made homemade flowers colored with the Victorian Velvet ink and added a pearl center.  Next I made leaves using the same Martha Stewart punch and some green card stock.  I Used Forest Moss to hi-lite the leaves and scrunched them to make them stand up some.  I put this layer on a piece of pink card stock and mounted all onto a white card base.  A little pearl in each corner and the card is done.  I hope you enjoy this!

PS:
Joan asked how I made the flowers.  I used an EK Success five petal punch and punched watercolor paper, then colored with Victorian Velvet Distress Ink from Ranger.  Once that was done, I embossed the flowers with an embossing tool and pad and I used a tooth pick to pinch the leaves into peaks.  I glued three flowers together offset to add dimension.

It is supposed to be hot here again this week, so try and stay cool!  At least we are getting back into the 60's at night.  There might just be a light at the end of the tunnel!

TAG...YOUR IT!

I decided to revisit this card and enter it in the Flourishes Kid's Play Challenge this week.  As kids, my baby sister and I used to play Tag.....We still do in our own fashion.  When things are getting a little tough in our lives we call each other and say "Tag ... Your it!" (Or..."Can you handle this for a while, I need to Breathe!")Then we talk about what is going on and sometimes it is just good to talk about it.  Also it is just an excuse to say hello to each other!

The stamps are from the Flourishes Humming Along group.  I stamped the bird, colored with Copic Markers and then cut him out and used dimensionals to pop him up.  The bugle vine is also colored with Copic Markers and then cut out using a Spellbinders Circles Die.....while the die was still on the paper I used Memento ink in London Fog to shade the background.  The stamp on the tag is also Flourishes from Life Lines. I cut out ovals using more Spellbinders Dies  I used BasicGrey Cappella paper layered on black cardstock to set up the card and then mounted it on a white card base. I added a little bling from my stash.   I hope you like this.  And remember when things get a little sticky in your life.....call someone you love and say ...."Tag...Your It!"

JUST FOR FUN COLOR CHALLENGE #23

Happy Friday Yuall!  It is hotter than you know what here.  We southern ladies have gone past prespiring and on to sweatin!  Anyway our JFF Color challenge colors are Kraft, Red and White.  Very nice!    Come play along with us and you might just be the winner of a $50 spending spree over at Just For Fun Stamps.  All you have to do is use these colors and any JFF stamps you have and create a card or project.  If you don't have any JFF stamps, just use what you have, but be sure and use these colors.  Then go to the JFF Blog, at the bottom of the post there will be a link you can use to link to your card or project.  I just love seeing what you do each week.  I have been seeing some lovely work!

My card this week is CAS....I used JFF Stamp F3417 - Large Cardinal and stamped, colored with Copic markers and then cut it out.  Next several layers of die cut cardstock and the card base was embossed with my new Scor-Buddy.  I keep looking at the card thinking there needs to be something else.  I have to remember what clean and simple means, so I'm just walking away!  This stamp would be wonderful on a Christmas card, but if I were doing Christmas, it would have some glitter on it!   Snort!.....

Now it is your turn!  Let's see what you got!  Feel free to visit the Design Team Members blogs and see what they have going on!   Just click on their names.

Challenge #8 - Joan's Gardens

I have been lurking around Joan's Garden for over a year now and today, I decided to play along in her Challenge #8.  You need Pumpkins or Leaves with Embossing or Glitter.  I stamped this stamp from JustRite Stampers and colored with Copic Markers.  The Pumpkin stems and curls have been gone over with a glitter pen.  Naturally, when I want the glitter to show.....it doesn't, but trust me it is there.  The background paper is embossed with glitter too.  I set up the image on Spellbinders dies and put all onto a card base of orange.  I hope you enjoy this as much as I enjoyed making it.

CHRISTMAS SLEIGH

Happy Tuesday everyone!  Things are beginning to settle down around here a little bit.  Whew!  I decided to make another Christmas card just to get me mind back around all the things I love so much.  The stamp is from JustRite Stampers and I stamped onto a piece of white card stock and then used Copic Markers to color the image.  A little glitter pen to add a little glitz never hurts anything!  I used a cotton ball and added some Ranger Distress Ink (Old Paper) around the image.  I used Spellbinders Dies (ovals) to cut layers for my image and added some paper from my stash.  A little snowflake and ribbon and the card is ready to go into my Christmas box!

I hope you have a wonderful day and try and stay cool.  The temps are still in upper 90's here .....really tough to be outside.  I have to give fresh water 2-3 times a day to outside animals.  I've pretty much given up on the flowers.....I don't think anything will save them now.  I still water but the heat is really doing them in.

Supplies
Gina K Designs Card Stock
Spellbinders Dies (ovals)
Gold card base (Stampin-Up) cut down to 4 X 4
Martha Stewart Punch Snowflake
Ranger Distress Ink (Old Paper)
Ranger Stickles - Crystal
Ribbon , paper, and pearls from my stash

GRACIE

Well, we decided to go ahead and find a friend for Bret.  This is Gracie...she also came from the No Kill Pound close to us.  She is 7 and such a sweet girl.  We are very pleased to have her and I think she will fit right in.  By taking her, Noah's Ark can take another little one that is in one of the other kind of shelter.  If I understand right, Gracie was born at Noah's Ark and has been there for 7 years.  Now she has over 1/2 acre to run and play if she wants.  She and Bret were housed together for awhile so they are old friends.

Gracie is a border collie mix.  Then I have a new picture of Bret below.  He is a shepherd mix.  He has tan markings and Gracie has only white.  See how Bret is smiling?  He is so happy to have a friend again!

ALTERED TIN....

Here is a picture of my altered  nut tin.  I love all things altered, but don't seem to do very much of it.  I just washed out the tin and used my new BasicGrey Cappella Paper as a base.  Black ribbon went on top and bottom.  Then I used two rows of this lace....I think it is so elegant looking.  The plastic lid was edged in black ribbon and I cut circles out of black card stock with Spellbinders Dies.  Then a circle out of the Cappella Paper set on a scallop circle from Spellbinders.  On each scallop of the circle, I glued a little pearl.  For the center medallion on the top I made a paper rose out of the paper and spritzed it with glimmer mist.  I'm loving this little box!  I hope you enjoy it too!
