What's on My Workdesk? Wednesday #321

Welcome to another international blog hop started by miss Julia.  You can get all the details on her blog by clicking her name above.  We all come together on Wednesday and take a picture of our desk and blog about what we are doing in our world. Next we link it to Julia's blog and then we can visit each other and have a little snoop around everyone's space!

So as you can see there is nothing going on in my creative world right now.  I know it is only the middle of the week but my poor body feels like it is all over but the crying!  I have worked in the garden, worked in the yard, worked in the house and I am just worked out for now.  I just need to sit in a vegetative state and do nothing for a day...or two....or three.  My poor desk looks lonely this morning with one tiny butterfly looking like it landed and went to sleep there. So please forgive me for not having a more interesting photo to share with you.

You can scroll down a bit and see the jars of green beans I have be canning and see what my world has been lately.  I am getting close to the end of the season for my garden and the clean-up has begun.  More hard dirty work but so rewarding and such good exercise for this old woman.  I whine a lot, but I truly love watching plants grow; it gives such a feeling of accomplishment.

So there you have it, a clean desk today and not much hope of messing it up until maybe tomorrow!

July Heartfelt Creations Alumni Design Team Blog Hop....

Here we are again at the end of another month and I'm here to be a part of another Alumni Design Team Blog Hop for Heartfelt Creations!  I always love to be a part of these blog hops because I love being with the past designers of Heartfelt Creations and believe me, there is some amazing talent among these ladies!

There will be a $25 gift certificate for one lucky person.  You must visit as many of the participating designers and leave a comment on each blog because we never know from which blog the winner will be chosen.

My card is relatively simple as I just made flowers, stamped  a sentiment, did a few die cuts and called it a day.  Heartfelt Creations allows us to make quick and easy cards that are a treat for the eye!

If you arrived here from:  Ujjwal Gupta's blog you are right on track and your next stop will be:  Sarah Miller's blog.

You have until Midnight, July 31st. to leave a comment on as many of our blogs as you can.  The winner of the $25 gift certificate will be announced on Saturday August 1st.  Good luck to everyone!

Monday Morning.....

Good morning everyone.  I'm here this morning to share a bit of my life as it has been lately!  Summertime, heat, humidity, more heat and garden...  Not much time to play in my craft room, but come by tomorrow as it is the monthly Heartfelt Creations Alumni Design Team Blog Hop!

I have been working so hard in the yard and garden and trying to handle the produce coming out of the garden and the heat and humidity and mosquitoes have been very hard to deal with!  I'm an "old" broad and these three things are very difficult as I'm trying to pick produce from the garden.

I'm very grateful for the bountiful harvest this year!  These will be wonderful this winter in soup and as a side dish as well.  These beans are an heirloom bean and each year I save my own seed as it is difficult to find the seeds to buy.  The name is "Turkey Craw".  Don't you think that is an unusual name?  Wonder how they came up with that?  Anyway, I may whine a lot, but I'm always grateful for a good harvest and the ability to have seed to save for next year!

Now the next couple of weeks will be the clean up time for my garden spot.  I will pull plants that are no longer producing and clean the space for next year. A cool breeze would be nice!

Life on the Edge....

I know  you think that is an odd title for my post this morning but from where I'm sitting it is just perfect.  I have been a little sporadic about posting as summertime brings lots of hard work in the yard and garden and for the most part, you guys all know that about me.  This year's growing season started very dry and then turned off very wet and lately I've been wading mud and battling mosquitoes to get in the garden at all.  Morning glory weeds are taking over (literally) and the harvest has not been as good.  At my age, I feel only the squeaky wheel is getting the grease and I'm just skirting the edges as far as my work load is concerned.  So please continue to bear with me here on my blog and very soon things will be back to normal again.  That being said, here is my card for this morning.

Sometimes I think the cards that literally take no time at all are the very best ones you create!  This is a card piece out of the Blazing Poppy Paper collection from Heartfelt Creations that has been matted with a piece of black card stock.  I used a technique I learned from Anna Griffin (cutting a belly band) and then I embossed the card front with one of my Anna Griffin embossing folders.  Next I colored some seam binding with Memento Morocco ink and scrunched it to dry then tied a bow.  How easy is that?

That does it for me today.  Hope you have a good day planned and that you take a moment just for you and "Breathe"!

God's Little Acre.....

My house sits on just under an acre of ground and I have a small space fenced off for a vegetable garden.  So far I'm still able to tend the plants and I'm hopeful I can continue as I love digging in the dirt!

This is the first row of beans.  They are pole beans and we string fencing wire between the end posts for them to climb.  Their name is "Turkey Craw"  and sometimes you can't find the seed in our area so I always try and save my seeds for the coming year.

This shot shows between the rows.  They are a breeze to pick; no stooping over ...just walk down the rows and pick as you go!  It makes it easy for an old lady to pick beans!

This year I'm trying my hand at growing watermelon.  I love to see these melons lying among the vines.  Yum!

And since I am growing watermelon I had to try cantelope.  I also have two pumpkin vines but they are sort of unruly and running everywhere!  I may have to rein them in before it is over with.  Last I looked, the vines were headed for the fence and thinking they might like to run free in the  yard!

Well that is just a bit of what is going on in my world.  The little plants with the small leaves are Morning Glory plants.  They will overtake the whole acre if you are not careful.  I spend most of my time battling these little devils but I never give up.  You will not win this battle!

WOYWW #318

Good morning everyone and welcome to my corner of the world!  I'm showing a photo of my work space to share over at Julia's blog as part of the WOYWW blog hop!  If you are curious about this you can check it all out on Julia's blog. She has all the details and rules and regulations posted there.  You just take a picture of your work space and blog about it then link to Julia's blog.  We have so much fan and I always enjoy looking around in everyone's space!

I'm showing my side desk where I can stand to work.  I'm beginning my next mini album and this is what the mess looks like at this point!  I'm pulling papers and sentiments and I've been making flowers and butterflies and I am having so much fun.  But it does make a mess.  I have this stage and then I have a pile of leftovers that I have to go through daily to be sure I utilize each and every little piece of this wonderful paper.  The paper is from Heartfelt Creations and it's called Birds and Blooms.  Beautiful!

Well that does it for me this morning.  Now I'm off to visit as many of the participants as I can.

White and Gold....

Good morning everyone!  Hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend.  As for me, it was very quiet as usual!

Once again I need to apologize for the lighting of my photo!  My flower is showing up a pretty creamy color when it is actually white.  I went back over to my photo tent and took a look and to the eye it looks white and everything matches but for some reason my camera likes to see it as cream...or maybe it's the lighting that isn't quite right, or maybe it's a combination of both. Anyway the real star of the show is the die work on the card.  It is a white card base and gold die cut from Anna Griffin Fretwork and the white piece is from Sue Wilson's Caribbean Island Collection (St Barts).  I have become a huge fan of Sue Wilson dies and will be using them more on my cards in the near future.

Thanks for stopping by...I always look forward to your visits!

Let's Celebrate The USA! Stars and Stripes...

Good morning everyone.  A while back I was asked to join the Dies R Us Challenge design team and jumped at the chance to be a part of this talented team!  This morning I'm sharing my very first creation for them and I must say, I couldn't be happier! Dies R Us has a great selection of dies and their shipping rates are extremely low for both domestic (US) and international shipments! And I have to add that everything arrives in pristine condition!  What a joy to be associated with such a class act!

I had so much fun creating this fun card to celebrate the upcoming July 4th. holiday! Since our theme for this challenge is Stars and Stripes I used a Red, White and Blue color scheme and glittered the stars!

Now get busy and create something to go along with the Stars and Stripes theme and link it to the Dies R Us Challenge blog.  You have until July 13th. to enter this challenge!  I look forward to seeing what you create!
